Cantabria Province

Cantabria_emblem

Cantabria a single Province

Capital: Santander

With a surface of 5.300 square kilometres Cantabria is an area of contrasts; valleys, peaks and blue waters.  The coastal scenery is lined with fine beaches, small resorts and picturesque fishing villages.  From east to west, towns such as Castro Urdiales, Laredo, Noja and the capital of the region, Santander can be found.  Further along the Cantabria coast are the towns of, Comillas, San Vicente de la Barquera and Santillana del MarCantabria also has some important primitive remains. The Altamira, the Puente Viesgo, El Pendo and La Garma caves all date back to the Stone Age.

Santender Inland, can be found the valleys of Liebana, Potes, Mogrovejo, and Cabuerniga.  Carmona and Barcena Mayor have remained unchanged for centuries.  In the Asturias mountain ranges, Picos de Europa and in the natural preserve of Saja, bears, wolves and eagles can still be found; the rivers are well stocked and full of salmon and trout.  Pico de tres Mares ("peak of the three seas") is a real curiosity: a drop of water that falls here may equally arrive in the Atlantic Ocean, by Duero river, the Cantabric Sea, by the Nansa River, or the Mediterranean Sea by the Ebro River.  Cantabria’s economy revolves around agriculture, cattle-raising and fishing.

The Cities:

Santander is an elegant, cosmopolitan city. It has a population of almost 200,000 inhabitants. The city is built around the bay and beaches and is full of historic buildings. Areas of interest here is the port and its beaches, the Península de la Magdalena and the city centre, which is mainly a commercial area.
Santillana del Mar, among the most perfectly preserved medieval villages in Europe; Santillana del Mar is now a famous Spanish national landmark and is the home of the prehistoric Caves of Altamira containing some of the most famous Stone Age paintings in the world.

Cantabria_SpainFood and Cuisine of the Region:
Cantabria is the land of fresh products of the best quality and variety, thanks to its excellent geographical conditions: sea, mountains, rivers and forests.  In Cantabria´s mountain areas enjoy a typical cocido montanes; a bean stew made with chorizo and black pudding. In the Liebana valley, chickpeas are used instead of beans.  Along the Cantabrian coast, delicious stews are made with tuna, potatoes, onion, peppers and tomato. Favourite fish dishes in Cantabria include hake, turbot, tuna and sardines.  Anchovies from Santona are especially prized by Cantabrians.  Shellfish specialities include spider crab, clams, and small shore crabs.

What our clients say

Remi

Thank you for the attached invoice which we shall attend to straightaway.

We would like to tell you how very happy we were with the move. Jack was extremely professional, courteous and cheerfully positive. Being accustomed to army moves every 15 months or so we have at times endured some difficult and awful experiences.  Jack was just great and it made the whole, rather sad, move bearable.  We trust he got back home safely.

We may well have another movement of furniture to UK coming up in August so if Jack was available then we would like him to help us if possible! Thanks also for the helpful phone and email contact we had prior to the move.
With best wishes

Fiona
